Open Question: Music genre of this decade?
Author: adminDec 31
Hey guys i just wanted get you all’s opinions on what the music of the 2010’s will be. Every 10 years music seems to change I think this decades change will represent a HUGE change partly because it is natural as the first decade of the century that it will usher in a new type of music. I will express what i will think will happen to music during this decade below please tell me if you agree or disagree.
Firstly, I think that all that can be done on traditional instruments has been done for instance every riff you can play on a guitar has been played, every beat on a drumset has been done. I believe really this was realized in the late 80s/ early 90’s. Because of that people started incorporating computer generated sounds in music. Also, i believe that songs have been written about everything and because of this people will start to focus more on the sound the music makes instead of the singing rap was really the last unexplored area of singing and now it is started to follow the whole electronic computer generated sounds movement.
You can witness this by the music today Lady gaga, LMFAO, ke$ha, black eyed pea, and almost every genre have very heavy techno/electronic styled beats. I believe that this trend will continue for the next 1-2 years until the mainstream music will basically be eurotranceish. Kind of like the song raver’s fantasy styled music for the rest of the decade i believe this will be the music of choice. Keeping in mind that computers are now an integral part of our life( and will only get bigger) and the accessibility of programs to make this kind of music i think it is unavoidable that this eurotrance styled music will dominate the 2010’s. I can not see trance becoming completely mainstream yet because people still need that little bit of vocal performance in music but it will just be a back up to the melody.
I also think that big record companies are DONE(but of course everyone has known this for awhile) basically because the internet has made it capable for artists to mass distribute their own music very easily. I also think that their will be no big super stars like the lady gaga, lil wayne, and such today. Partly because the ability of so many people to put so much music out their will cause people to have so many different songs to choice from no one person will become to popular. I see musicians making money off becoming club styled DJ’s basically they will work for salary at clubs (which i think will become even bigger and more important to social function) making a decent amount, and because there will be so many music will become more regional, you can kind of see this with the whole west coast, south coast, east coast rap styles.
I think there will also be some sub-genres that reject this new computerized music and try to move music back to 50’s style rock or Early hip-hop/rap, these will not be the mainstream but i see them as kind of like a punk movement not mainstream but does have a following.
The main thing is that as technology will improve our lives we will seek to use it more and more in our music. The use of internet and all will allow us to have big gatherings making clubs very popular. The availability of making music will cause more people to become musicians resulting in a different means of distributing it and becoming more proud of the musicians in your area causing distinct regional styles.
I know this was long i was just brainstorming here what do you all think my final guess that in the 2020’s music Trance will be popular sort of like classical music of the new century the whole history runs in a cycle deal. Please tell me what you think and if you agree/disagree and why
